Cuttlebone: 2 Part Earrings
Cuttlebone casting is an ancient technique that began with the Egyptians. It was based down through Etruscans, ancient Italians, and now today۪s modern jewelers. The process involves carving the bone of a cuttlefish, securing the mold, and pouring molten metal into the mold. I was lucky enough to attend cuttlebone casting classes in Florence, Italy this summer. I learned from a jeweler who has been using this technique since he was a kid. The cuttlebone produces a beautiful ridged texture that is unique on each piece. -Sterling Silver -Sterling Silver posts -2 sizes available
